Early in my remote sensing career, I became curious about what aerosol optical depth (AOD) looked like world-wide, and how they changed throughout the year.

During 2018, the highest global levels of AOD centered around Eastern Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. High levels of AOD were also seen on the Western coast of Africa and across the Atlantic as Saharan dust was pulled Westward.
Beginning with December 2017, January 2018, and February 2018 (DJF), we can see how AOD changed throughout the year.
